Jupiter Atmosphere: Observations, Jupiter: Rotation, Jupiter: Temperatures
Scientific paper
Jupiter was followed from March 1997 to January 1998 by 32 visual observers. The temperate ovals BC, DE and FA were packed in a 50° segment of STB and surpassed the GRS between August and November. The GRS was faint but coloured and stationary in longitude, followed by a train of white spots on SEB. This belt was active with many white ovals on its S edge. NEB was still the most spectacular belt with many projections and bays on both of its edges; a pair of big projections on its N edge were stationary in System 2. The temperature belts both N and S had darker sectors, little spots and ovals. Rotation periods were derived from CM transits of 58 details.
