Meteor trails from a short-lived shower of Giacobini (Draconid) meteoroids on 1985 Oct. 08 were detected by the forward scattering of radio waves at 70.31 MHz. Radio meteor rates were also recorded on 1985 Oct. 07 and 09 to determine the background level of radio meteor activity. The forward-scatter data for 1985 Oct. 08 show that radio meteor rates rise significantly above the background level at about 0740 UT. Peak observed rates occur between 0930 and 0935 UT. By 1200 UT the shower subsided. No unusual meteor activity is noted on 1985 October 07 and 09. After removal of the background meteor activity from the total radio meteor rates recorded on 1985 October 08, and correction of the observed shower rates to allow for various factors introduced by the complex forward-scatter geometry, an activity curve for the Draconid meteors was determined for the 1985 return. Peak activity occurs 3h 40m before the predicted time of arrival of the Earth at the descending node of P/Giacobini-Zinner.
