The concept of using cometary materials as propellant material is treated theoretically with attention given to the mechanics and resources available for such maneuvers. An interplanetary station is considered that approaches a comet by means of nuclear electric and Xe propulsion and then uses cometary materials as propellant. The sublimation and evaporation regimes of cometary matter are determined to give suggestions for the production of a propellant supply for artificial jets.
