The Liapunov characteristic numbers (LCN) and the higher moments of the distribution of the local variations of the tangent vectors to the flow were used to characterize chaos. It is shown that in a regular zone with initial distances between 0.1 and 0.25 the modal value of each distribution is to be found in different intervals of the x-axis and the shape of the distribution changes when the initial distance increases.
