A generic Hamiltonian sharing the functional form characterizing any Deprit intermediary is investigated under conditions yielding positive-energy two-body motion. An appropriate canonical transformation, followed by an adequate differential transformation of the time parameter, leads to a canonical reduction of the Hamiltonian into the form corresponding to a pure Kepler problem in hyperbolic DS variables. Thus, a canonical set of hyperbolic elements is obtained for the problem posed by this Hamiltonian.
