The simple cosmological principle assumes a homogeneous space, while the generalized cosmological principle requires the additional assumption of isotropy. In the present paper, arguments for the validity of both principles are presented. A major argument in favor of the simple cosmological principle is the existence of isotropic background radiation with Planck's spectrum and a temperature of 2.7 K.
