The intensity and linear polarization of coronal emission lines such as the Fe XIII 10747 A and the Fe XIV 5303 A lines contain information on coronal electron density and magnetic field direction. Several average properties of the Fe XIV 5303 A line from measurements performed using the Pic du Midi (France) monochromatic coronameter are summarized. The mean direction of the polarization is found to be radial while the average polarization rate is consistent with models taking into account the depolarization produced by density inhomogeneities and actual fluctuations in magnetic field direction. The observed large scale organization of the polarization clearly reveals the existence of the large scale structure of the coronal magnetic field.
