This is a review article on the general motion of N-rigid bodies. The development of analytical qualitative methods in the study of the rigid-body motion are presented in a systematic way starting from early researches of particular solutions to the recent development on the existence of stationary solutions. The motion of two rigid bodies in general and the motion of coupled rigid bodies about a fixed point are discussed in detail.
