We present mid-infrared images of the Herbig star AB Auriga at 11.6 and 18.5 um taken with Michelle on Gemini North. The mid-infrared emission around the star is interpreted as arising from two components. A strong hotter emission close to the star is resolved at 11.6 and 18.5 um with sizes 17 +/- 2 AU and 21 +/- 3 AU respectively, while a more diffuse colder emission is detected to the sensitivity limit of the observation with a radius of 200 AU. The observed emission is explained in the passive flared disk model scenario.
I would like to thank the staff at Gemini, for their excellent support and the NASA Graduate Student Research Program for their funding.
