The mechanism of gamma-ray emission from pulsars is presently discussed on the basis of the Rudermann-Sutherland model, according to which the curvature radiation of typical energy around E(c) will be emitted by first-generation electrons after their effective accelerations within the polar gap. Attention is given to the criterion for the division of all pulsars into those solely observable as radio pulsars (PR type), and those which are in addition observable as gamma-ray pulsars (GR type).
