The burst frequency N(greater than S) observable by detectors in the atmosphere is proportional to that seen far from the earth but depends on depth, angular distribution, and incident spectrum. The corresponding factors were calculated for both an isotropic distribution and for a disk population (for latitude 40 deg) as seen by a 2pi and a 4pi flat omnidirectional detectors at different depths in the atmosphere. The effects of multiple scattering and absorption of the incident photons are included and results are tabulated for three different input spectra.
