It is shown that rapidly rotating magnetic white dwarfs can be strong gamma radiation sources with luminosities in the range of 0.4-5 x 10 to the 36th erg/s. It is hypothesized that many of the galactic gamma sources yet to be identified may indeed be rotating magnetic white dwarfs. A time modulation of the gamma radiation with a period corresponding to the angular rotation velocity of 0.1-1/s would confirm this hypothesis.
