Cosmological hydrodynamic simulations based on a cold dark matter model is a useful tool to study galaxy formation. I will review basic models of star formation and supernova feedback used in simulations, and describe how galaxy properties are computed using a population synthesis model. Evolution of luminosity and mass functions of galaxies from z=10 to z=3 will be discussed. We compute Ly-α luminosity function of simulated galaxies based on star formation rates. By comparing our results with observed Ly-α luminosity functions, we examine the stellar masses of Ly-α emitters and escape fraction of Ly-α photons from young galaxies.
