An expression of the two-body and three-body correlation functions of condensed objects is derived on the basis of the assumption that the many-body matter correlation functions behave as a product of two-body correlation functions, which is expected to hold at the scales of 0.1 to 10/h Mpc. It is shown that the galaxy and the matter correlations are proportional and that their ratio is a product of two bias factors that depend only on the intrinsic properties of the two objects that are correlated. This model, which allows calculations of the bias parameters, is found to agree with all currently known constraints.
