The results of a number of experimental and theoretical studies of the propagation characteristics of cosmic rays are summarized. Consideration is given to: measurements of the total electron energy spectrum at energies above 10 GeV; measurements of the exponential pathlength distribution with mean pathlength at energies above a few GeV; and the the relation between steep variations of mean pathlength and the measured interstellar turbulence spectrum. The possibility of confirming the validity of leaky-box models of cosmic ray propagation by detailed analysis of the adiabatic deceleration characteristics of protons and antiprotons is also discussed.
