The conclusions of a comparative study of the orbital behavior in different mass models of our Galaxy are presented. Extensive statistics of resonant periodic orbits for the Schmidt mass models are obtained from diagrams showing the rotation number of the central periodic orbit as a function of the energy. The most important radial-to-vertical oscillation frequency ratios in the orbital meridian plane are chiefly 1/1 and 4/3 and also 2/3 and 1/2, giving rise to important tube orbits. Applications of our systematic exploration of orbits to the dynamics of the solar neighborhood and of more central regions of the Galaxy are proposed. In particular, for the stellar populations near the sun, we delimit the regions of the residual velocity plane for which the existence of a third integral is certain, independently of the model.
