COMPTEL is finding evidence for nuclear-interaction γ-ray lines in the galactic MeV radiation, although conclusive line identifications are still lacking. In addition to Orion, first indications are now seen in emission from the inner Galaxy as well. The data analysis is complicated by the extended nature of the observed emission and by the fact that the lines can be expected to be broad and structured and possibly even gravitationally redshifted. The emission from Orion has stimulated studies of γ-ray line production near OB associations that are enriching and energizing their environment. The inner-Galaxy emission, apparently extending well out of the galactic plane, suggests that other sources may have to be considered as well, such as possibly compact objects. We review the current status.
