Using statistics for small samples, I investigate the relation between the current strength of the galactic magnetic field B (as obtained by the best available method) and the star formation activity (as obtained by either the star formation rate (SFR) or the star formation efficiency (SFE). From recently published homogeneous observational data in a 'complete sample' of nearby spiral galaxies, I looked for a relation between galactic magnetic field and star formation rate B approximately = SFRj, and I find j = 0.13 +/- 0.04 for 33 galaxies. I also looked for a relation between galactic magnetic field and star formation efficiency B approximately = SFEj, and I find j = 0.13 +/- 0.04 for 48 galaxies.
