The Radial Velocity Experiment (RAVE) is an ambitious all-sky spectroscopic survey to measure radial velocities and stellar atmosphere parameters (temperature, metallicity, surface gravity) of up to one million stars using the 6dF multi-object spectrograph on the 1.2-m UK Schmidt Telescope of the Anglo-Australian Observatory (AAO). Star counts, proper motions and RAVE radial velocities are combined to analyse the Galactic Disk towards the Galactic poles. Present RAVE radial velocities probe the vertical gravitational potential of theGalactic disk from 500 pc to 2 kpc from the Sun, and constrain the total vertical mass distribution within the Galactic disk at the solar position. We revisit the local vertical gravitational potential, the structure of the stellar disks, the luminosity function, and the kinematics and vertical distribution of the thin and thick disks.
