The radio and optical properties of G339.2-0.4, which has been classified as a supernova remnant and as a low-excitation planetary nebula, are investigated in an attempt to determine the true nature of the object. A radio map of the source at 1420 MHz is examined, along with the source's 408- and 5000-MHz flux densities, several optical surveys, and an optical spectrum from 4600 to 7600 A. The results indicate that the radio spectrum has a power-law index of -0.2, that the mean observed radio flux density is high - and the emission measure low - for a planetary nebula, and that the overall optical spectrum is most like that of a low-excitation planetary nebula. It is concluded that the nature of G339.2-0.4 remains uncertain.
