Scientific paper
A new galactic supernova remnant has been found in the ROSAT X-ray All-Sky Survey data. The object has a near circular, centrally filled shape and a diameter of ~15arcmin. The classification as SNR is confirmed by the existence of optical filaments, ring-like infrared emission and an elliptical radio source. The X-ray emission appears to be of thermal origin but the spectral fitting of the X-ray spectrum does not yield unambiguous results for the interstellar absorbing column density and the electron temperature of the plasma. Optical line ratio measurements indicate an expansion velocity of ~500km/s, which supports the X-ray parameters of N_H_~5x10^21^cm^-2^ and kT~0.3keV. This suggests a distance of ~5kpc, a Sedov-age of ~8700years and an explosion kinetic energy of ~1.6x10^50^erg.
