Solar Neighborhood: G Dwarfs, Galaxy: Chemical Evolution, G Dwarfs: Metal Content

Scientific paper

Based on a new G dwarf metallicity distribution function within the solar distance of 25 pc, the present study gives a detailed discussion for four galactic chemical evolution models in an inhomogeneous interstellar medium. It is shown that both the simple and the collapse models deviate greatly from the observed results, while the PIE and PPY models not only give much better fit, but also alleviate the classical G dwarf problem. The indication is that the outer halo materials might have little influence in the solar neighbourhood.
