During the last few years, a number of long period variables are being discovered on or beyond the cool border of the instability strip intersects with the main sequence. They are called γ Dor variables and their periods are too long as compared with the corresponding ones for δ Sct variables. The present status of this group of variables is up-dated and revised. Some rules for surveys on γ Dor variables in open clusters or in the field seem to be promising.
