Galaxies which were apparently physically associated but nevertheless included a member with a large discordant redshift were discovered in Virgo and in Stephen's Quintet. When a systematic survey of peculiar and interacting galaxies became available, it became clear that the most common situation comprised a large galaxy with interacting companions of higher redshift. The present investigation is concerned with the four latest cases of companion galaxies with discordant redshifts. In three of these cases the morphological evidence for interaction is among the most compelling so far found. In the same three cases the evidence of early-type absorption spectrum is strong. There are some emission and absorption peculiarities in all three of these spectra which mark them as extremely unlikely to be random background galaxies accidentally projected. For the first time it may be possible to study the actual physical differences between galaxies which have excess redshift and the more normal galaxies.
