Results of a comparative study of the wind fields in the mesosphere and lower thermosphere over Poker Flat (65°N, 147°W) and Davis (69°S, 78°E) are presented. The study utilized the MF radar wind data collected simultaneously during the period 1999-2000. Mean winds during this period are examined to study the hemispheric features. Emphasis has been given to the climatological variations over these two high-latitude stations. The results suggest large hemispheric differences in the mean circulation. Further, the observed mean wind characteristics are compared with results obtained from other high-latitude stations.
