FTOOLS is a collection of general analysis programs to create, examine, or modify data files in FITS format. These programs use the FITSIO subroutine interface to access the FITS files. Each task is modular and performs one type of operation which can be strung together in command files to perform more elaborate functions. Many of these tasks are designed to operate on FITS tables (either ASCII TABLE or BINTABLE extensions) but FITS IMAGE extensions and primary arrays are also supported by many of the tasks. The FTOOLS package is very portable and can be run either as a set of IRAF tasks or as standalone executable programs.
