Fast moving samples were investigated by conventional and FT Raman spectroscopy. Using near infrared excitation of a Nd-YAG laser instead of the visible excitation by gas-lasers the problem of fluorescence was overcome. The double modulation due to sample movement occurring in FT Raman spectroscopy was avoided by application of the step scan technique. Sample speeds up to 20 m/s were successfully applied. The fast movement of the sample inhibits the thermal degradation of the sample and allows quality control under draw.
