Fringes in the visible have been observed with the GI2T interferometer, incorporating a pair of 1.5 meter telescopes with spherical mounts. The fringes were recorded on α Lyr (Vega) with a 13.8 m baseline, effective apertures of 42 cm and a spectral resolution of 5 Å. Short-term improvements and observational possibilities are discussed, as well as technical conclusions concerning the design of larger instruments, for which vibration and stability problems are more critical.
