A mobile station was developed with the main objective of providing a comprehensive set of ground based data in connection with satellite, rocket, or balloon based experiments. The station is equipped with the basic optical and magnetic instruments required for magnetospheric and ionospheric studies, and for the special cases of combined campaigns with geostationary satellites. The station operation is described and some results of comparisons of different detectors within the station are presented in reference to a campaign involving the GEOS-1 satellite at Husafell, Iceland.
