An analysis of the laminar free-convection and mass transfer effects of a viscous incompressible heat generating fluid-flow past an impulsively vertical plate, with constant suction and heat flux at the plate, in the presence of free stream oscillations is considered. Approximate solutions of the coupled, nonlinear equations relevant to the problem are obtained and analytical expressions for the velocity field, temperature field, skin friction and the rate of heat transfer are presented. The influence on the various parameters entering into the problem is discussed.
