We present a quantitative description of the evolution of meteor coma based on the theory of one kind of fragmentation, husking. We have derived the formulae enabling the computation of surface light variability of meteor coma along the atmospheric trajectory. Comparison of theoretically evaluated isophotes with the observed meteor images taken by the method of instantaneous exposure shows that the theory of husking is capable of correctly describing the phenomenon of meteor coma.
