It is shown that two-layer sporadic E layers can form in the auroral ionosphere during geomagnetic disturbances in the case of large meridional and small zonal components of electric fields and large precipitation fluxes of high-energy particles. The double layers form under large external electric fields due to plasma electrodynamic interaction at different heights during the precipitation of large structured fluxes of electrons with energies of about 10 keV.
