SIRTF observations for the Legacy Project, From Molecular Cores to Planet-Forming Disks, will include over 20 square degrees in five molecular clouds and maps of 135 isolated star-forming cores in the mid- to far-infrared wavelengths. The Legacy data will also include ancillary millimeter observations of these regions. We present a summary of the Legacy observations with coverage and sensitivities---a multi-wavelength database incorporating numerous methods of observation---along with estimated background star and galaxy counts. In addition, we review criteria for the selection of young, substellar objects, in particular, from the vast database provided by the SIRTF Legacy team. Finally, based on the previous detections of brown dwarfs in the optical and near-infrared and theoretical models, we estimate the number of brown dwarfs to be revealed by these observations.
