I will review the current understanding of protostellar jet formation, i.e. the acceleration and collimation of MHD outflows from disks and/or stars. Time-dependent MHD simulations allows to investigate in detail the physical processes involved like e.g. turbulent magnetic diffusivity, the accretion disk magnetic field profile or non-axisymmetric disturbations. Recent applications will consider the jet launching from the disk (accretion-ejection) and the coupling of disk and star magnetic field.
