The 100-m telescope at Effelsberg is used in measuring the distribution of the 4.83 GHz absorption line of the 1(10)-1(11) rotational transition of formaldehyde H2CO and of the 1420 MHz self-absorption of cold neutral hydrogen for the globular filament of GF 16 in Taurus. A total of 128 positions on an irregular grid with spacing of approximately 4 arcmin are measured in formaldehyde. In addition, the self-absorption of cold neutral hydrogen is measured for the same area. Comparison of these data with a map of visual dust extinction from star counts on the POSS prints (Batrla et al., 1981) reveals a good correlation between dust and H2CO with r = 0.70 but no significant correlations with H I. The entire region is found to be rather quiescent, with no noticeable streaming motions. Estimates of the total mass are derived for several individual globules (D, E, C 4, C 3 + C 2).
