Magnetic reconnection processes may play a significant role in the fast release of magnetic energy stored in current-carrying plasmas. The old steady reconnection and non-steady models of tearing modes are insufficient to explain the impulsive phase of solar flares or sequential triggering phase observed by Vorpahl (1976). This observation hints a mechanism of triggering of solar flares by fast magnetosonic waves. In order to explain the triggering phase, the authors propose a theoretical model of forced reconnection caused by fast magnetosonic waves. They examine and visualize the forced reconnection by means of a MHD particle simulation. Some conditions for fast reconnection are discussed with applications to solar flares.
