Probabilities for the magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole transitions within the ground configuration 2s2 2p2 have been calculated for all the members of the C I sequence from C I to Ni XXIII. These multiconfiguration results are compared with other calculations; where large discrepancies exist, the causes are explained. Identifications of observed solar lines with forbidden transitions within the C I sequence are discussed.
