Profiles of forbidden emission lines were derived from high resolution (1.5 ⪉ R×10-4 ⪉ 3) spectrograms of 12 T Tauri stars. These observational results are compared to theoretical line profiles, derived from simple geometric models of T Tauri winds, assuming the presence of circumstellar dust or obscuring protostellar disks. Most observed profiles are not compatible with spherically symmetric radial winds but agree qualitatively with profiles predicted for axially symmetric focussed velocity fields and filled or hollow cone emission patterns.
