Data Analysis And Techniques

Scientific paper

An adaptive algorithm is presented for the flux extraction of the Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST). The new algorithm employs the double Gaussian function to approximate the profile of the spectrum in spatial direction. In this study, experiments are performed both on the practical data (LAMOST, SDSS) and simulated data. Experiments results show that the new method is suitable for LAMOST, and also applicable for other similar multifiber spectra such as SDSS.
