This paper presents non-LTE calculations of Fe I lines for semiempirical chromospheric models of T Tauri stars. It is shown that agreement with observations can be achieved if an additional ionizing-radiation field or an abundance deficiency of iron is included. The former condition was found to be the more probable. Observations indicate a greater fluorescent strengthening of 4063 and 4132 Fe I than is achieved in the chromospheric model. Several areas in which these models can be improved are discussed.
