The author has attempted to discover the effects of fluctuations and correlations arising from the forces present in the expanding universe. The gravitational and Coulomb forces are most important after the density of the expanding universe falls below nuclear density (~1015 g/cm3). The effects of the gravitational force are treated by considering the two-particle correlation function in a gravitating expanding universe. By treating the fluid limit of the system and neglecting three particle correlations, an exact solution for the two-particle correlations may be found. It is found that, under such circumstances, correlations may grow only algebraically with time, not exponentially. The limitations and implications of the present results are fully discussed. Energy fluctuations due to the random distribution of charges in a plasma are calculated. The distribution function for the energy is found and finite results obtained by the use of a cutoff parameter. The physical significance of the cutoff parameter is discussed. The results of Coulomb correlations are also included. Some simple calculations involving energy loss via radiation are given; the energy balance of the universe is discussed, showing how gravitational and Coulomb effects may interact and exchange energy. It is found that gravitational and Coulomb forces can probably explain some of the astronomical features currently observed in the universe. Numerical results are obtained and compared with observations.
