Vertical Circles: Flexure

Scientific paper

An analysis of the flexure of the Large Vertical Circle of Belgrade Observatory is given. The examinations show a very prominent temperature dependence, a significant variation during an observation night, and a dependence on observers and on the quality of the measurements; no dependence on meteorological parameters was found. Seasonal variations, being most prominent during the autumn season, were found. The most important systematic influences are collimator displacement and the tube refraction. The accuracy of the flexure determination amounts to ±0″22.
