Scientific paper

A burst of electromagnetic radiation and high-energy protons associated with a flare of importance 3B were recorded by X-ray and gamma-ray equipment and charged particle detectors on board the Prognoz 2 satellite. The flare originated at 15.00 UT in the region McMath 11 976 N, W 35. The characteristics and the general pattern of the event are discussed.
