During a balloon observation of the Perseus region, a hard X-ray impulsive event has been detected. The duration was about 12 minutes, and the spectrum appears to be of the thermal bremsstrahlung type at an electron temperature of 50 million K. Possible identifications with X Persei, Beta Persei, or a supernova explosion in the Perseus cluster are discussed.
