Observations of linear and circular polarization obtained simultaneously in the U, B, V, R, and I bands during a low-activity state of the binary H0139-68 in November 1984 are discussed. The brightening data suggest that the cyclotron emission intensity peaked in the near infrared. The results provide some indications of positive circular polarization reversal during the faint phase. A 20 keV Lambda = 10,000 constant temperature model is found to adequately explain the phase dependence, although the degree of polarization of the cyclotron component during the bright phase is lower than that predicted by the existing magnetoactive plasma model by a factor of about two.
