An analysis is made of errors of the direct shipboard determination of secular variations of the geomagnetic field at various locations on the Black Sea and the eastern Atlantic. Values of secular variations of various magnetic field components (T,Z,H) for 26 sea locations are compared with model values. The largest systematic deviations (more than 25nTl/year) are observed for the horizontal component at Atlantic locations.
