The first observations of Pes micropulsation events by the Sweden and Britain auroral Radar Experiment (SABRE) twin auroral radar indicate that both poleward and equatorward moving echo events exist, although the equatorward motion has not been previously reported in auroral radar observations. The reversal in the sense of drift seems to coincide with the movements of the plasmapause, and/or resonance effects, on opposite flanks of the magnetosphere. These results demonstrate the value of the SABRE radar system, and point to its potential usefulness in ionospheric and magnetospheric research.
