Nearly 60 RR Lyrae candidate stars were suggested as asteroseismic targets for the Kepler mission. After the release of the data from the commissioning phase and the first roll (Q1), we are left with 35 confirmed RR Lyrae stars. In this talk we present the first results of our analysis of the RR Lyrae data obtained with Kepler. As expected, we find a fraction of the RRab stars to show the Blazhko effect. This phenomenon, which still defies a straightforward explanation, manifests as a periodic amplitude and phase modulation of the light curve, on time scales of typically tens of days. We discuss the data, our analyses and findings, and their implications for our understanding of RR Lyrae stars and the Blazhko effect.
