The Remote Observatory for Variable Object Research (ROVOR) is a small RC Optical 16" telescope on a Paramount ME pier located on a dark site in central Utah. Its purpose is to 1) monitor bright variable objects such as close AGNs, QSOs, and intrinsic variable stars, 2) be a test bed for developing inexpensive COTS-based robotic telescopes, 3) teach undergraduate students observational astronomy techniques through participation in timely and relevant research. We report on the ROVOR facility, its capabilities, and its first observational successes.
