Dieter Happel asked the following question: If the $n$-th Hochschild
cohomology group of a finite dimensional algebra $\Gamma$ over a field vanishes
for all sufficiently large $n$, is the global dimension of $\Gamma$ finite? We
give a negative answer to this question.
